Cardigan Rating out of 5: 3.5
Having read the first book in this series by these authors (Blackout), and loving it, I wanted to see how this one would rate. While I think Blackout is a little better, Whiteout holds its own. It’s written collaboratively by several authors, with each author taking on one character’s story. You could tell who wrote which character if you are familiar with the author's writing style, but the story itself never felt disjointed. The stories interwove together to make one final product. Some of the romances felt more fleshed out than others, which is why I deducted some points. The characters are all people of color, and the Christmas and Ramadan holidays are mentioned.
Many romance tropes and sexual identities were covered, making this accessible to all. The city of Atlanta is its own character, so you might understand more if you know about the area. It’s a fun, fast read on a cold winter night. The authors are publishing one more book together, a thriller, in June 2026, and I can’t wait to read it.
