The Lake City Public Library proudly stands as the second largest library within the Florence County Public Library System, a testament to the unwavering dedication of the FCLS Library Board, Friends of the Lake City Public Library, the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation, as well as the staff and community members. Through their collective efforts, the current library was inaugurated in May 2001, replacing the original 2,000 square foot facility established in 1956 with a modern and spacious 12,000 square foot building. This full-service, user-centric library not only houses books but also offers invaluable resources—all provided at no cost to Florence County residents.
The Lake City library has ties with the famous astronaut Ron McNair, who was from Lake City and passed away at the age of 35 during the launch of the Space Shuttle Challenger. The current Ronald E. McNair Life History Center on the grounds was originally the Lake City Library, and remains an inspirational site for school-aged children.

Computers & Wifi
Use desktop computers with your library card or guest pass. Computers use a Windows-based operating system and connect to the internet. Please see the computer use policy for details.
Print, Scan, Copy, and Fax
Patrons may print up to 10 free black and white pages per day. If the patron needs more pages printed, or if they need to print in color, please use public computers for self-service printing.
Get a Library Card
Patron must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of or property holder in Florence County to register for a library card account. A property holder is an individual who pays taxes on land in Florence County.
Friends of the Lake City Public Library
The Mission of the Friends of the Lake City Public Library is to enhance the Lake City Public Library by raising funds to supplement Public funding in order to provide books, materials and programs.
