How to Check Items Out
Once you have a library card, you’re ready to borrow books, movies, and more!
Loan Basics:
- New cardholders can check out 3 items at first. After returning them, you may borrow up to 30 items at a time.
- Checkout periods range from 1 to 3 weeks, depending on the item.
- Most items can be renewed up to two times, unless they are on hold for another patron or have specific borrowing restrictions.
Holds and Requests:
- Place holds on physical items through the online catalog with your card number and pin (the last four digits of your phone number), in-person at a service desk, or by calling 843-662-8424.
- You can request items from across South Carolina using our SCLENDS network or beyond through Interlibrary Loan.
No Overdue Fines!
We don’t charge late fees, but you’ll need to pay for any lost or damaged items before you can check out more.
