Thoughts:
“Isn’t it strange how the world works sometimes? It’s never a matter of time, but a matter of timing.”
I was initially skeptical when this book was recommended to me as I am not much of a romance reader and wasn’t sure this book would be for me. However, once I picked this book up I didn’t put it down. Ashley Poston writes in a way that seamlessly blends realistic stories with well-written romance and just a touch of magic. It follows Clementine West, a book publicist that is mourning the loss of her favorite aunt whom she has spent her life travelling the world with and spending summers in her eclectic, mystical New York apartment. After the passing of her aunt, we follow Clementine’s journey working through her grief and the realization that her aunt had not been speaking metaphorically when she said her home was magical. Clementine wakes up one day to discover that she is in the same apartment, but seven years in the past and with a stranger in her home. Clementine and Iwan navigate their unusual circumstances and get to know one another while battling inopportune time travel. Jumping from the past to the present, this book was such a whirlwind read and had me rooting for the characters that we got to know in two different timelines and finding each other in both.
