I originally read The School for Good and Evil when I was in high school. I think what drew me to the book series was, at the time, shows like Monster High and Ever After High, where children of famous monsters and fairy tale characters went to school to learn how to be like their parents. Once I read the first book, I was hooked on the series. Of course, this was when there were only four books in the series. I recently revisited the series, so I was able to catch up on the last two episodes.
The series still holds up from that first time I experienced its story and characters. However, my opinion about the character named Tedros is still the same. He has such a powerful family lineage, and that seems to put a lot of weight on his shoulders. However, he seems to let that be his main reason for all of his actions. I wish he had explored more about himself outside of who his family was. On the other hand, I do understand why Tedros is the way he is.
Agatha and Sofie have an interesting friendship throughout the series, and sometimes it frustrated me. It is always a back and forth between the two, but it adds another dimension to the story, and it is often the drive behind it. Agatha is my favorite character. She has so much character development throughout the series. Her character design is also great. When the story starts, she is the complete opposite of Sofie, almost in every way. I recommend this series to anyone who is looking for an adventure that involves mythical creatures, fairy tales, princesses, princes, villains, and some magic.
