Goodreads Summary

Thoughts:

This book is perfect if you are looking for a cozy holiday book to get into the Christmas spirit. Following the death of their estranged and very eccentric father, three half sisters (Maggie, Star, and Simone) are reunited in the small town of Rowan Thorpe where they discover their dad has left them a scavenger hunt meant to bring the girls back together. Rowan Thorpe is the perfect depiction of an English version of Stars Hollow and is the cutest little town to wander through as the sisters work through their scavenger hunt, which might I add, starts in the family’s mysterious and eclectic antique shop, North Novelties & Curios.

Don’t let the title and premise fool you, this book is set during the holidays and is a cozy read but it also tackles some tough issues as we discover that each of the sisters is working through her own personal issues (infertility, divorce, death, substance abuse). The different POVs of the sisters are equally fun and portray the complicated yet loving relationship that so many people have with their siblings.

This book can feel a little predictable and cheesy at times, but like watching a Hallmark movie which is the whole point of a charming holiday read. There is some light romance throughout the book; however, that is far from being the focal point which is definitely repairing family bonds and finding the people you consider family. If you are looking for something light and optimistic to read during this holiday season this could be the book for you.
