You're invited! The Dr. N. Lee Morris Gallery will open the exhibit She Worthy–The Gift of Generations by artist Carol Black-Lemon with a public reception on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., sponsored by Friends of Florence County Library. Admission is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Carol Black-Lemon is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work explores identity, memory, and the emotional landscapes that shape our lives. Drawing inspiration from nature, culture, and spirit, her paintings—ranging from abstract to expressive storytelling—invite viewers into a world of color, movement, and reflection. Carol balances bold imagery with quiet depth, encouraging personal connection and contemplation.
A native of New Jersey now based in Florence, South Carolina, Carol has exhibited her work in galleries and community spaces across both states. She is also a curator, having led meaningful exhibitions such as Objet Trouvé, The Power of Four, and Sharing Our Stories—a Black History Month project that invited intergenerational storytelling through collage and Poetry.
The Dr. N. Lee Morris Gallery is located on the second floor of the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library in Florence. It is free to visit and open to the public during regular library hours:
