Nikolai Oskolkov Gallery Opening

The Florence County Library’s Morris Gallery will present a special reception to open an exhibit by artist Nikolai Oskolkov on Thursday, October 9 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. 

The exhibit is made possible by a generous donation of twenty one of Mr. Oskolkov’s paintings by Florence native Willson Powell, in addition to a substantial monetary gift, to the Friends of Florence County Library. These gifts are given in memory of the late Dr. N. Lee Morris, a first cousin of Mr. Powell's, for whom the library’s gallery is named. The paintings will become part of the library’s permanent collection.  

The reception will include catered refreshments and live music beginning at 5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.  

Moscow-born artist, Nikolai Oskolkov, also known as NikO, lives and works in Columbia, South Carolina. He immigrated with his Russian parents to Canada at the age of eight before eventually settling in the U.S. During his lifetime, he has travelled extensively throughout Europe and the Caribbean. After earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of South Carolina, NikO focused on colorful depictions of the rural American South. Over the years, NikO has expanded his repertoire to include atmospheric landscapes, still life, historical portraits and mythical allegories. His work is featured in numerous private collections and has been exhibited in various galleries from Beaufort, South Carolina to New York City.

Visitation to the Dr. N. Lee Morris Gallery on the second floor of the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library is free and open to the public during normal operating hours:

Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
