Event Details
The Dr. N. Lee Morris Gallery will open the exhibit She Worthy–The Gift of Generations by artist Carol Black-Lemon with a public reception on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., sponsored by Friends of Florence County Library. The exhibit will run through March 31, 2026. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.
She Worthy–The Gift of Generations is a series of artistic works that celebrates the evolving journey of a woman. Each painting offers a glimpse into the emotions, identities, and experiences that shape her path—from the innocence of youth to the wisdom of the elders—honoring the lessons passed down through generations. She Worthy speaks to the inherent value, strength, dignity, and unyielding spirit of women—qualities we inherit and carry within us. It invites viewers to
reflect on the strength they carry, the wisdom they inherit, and the importance of honoring their own worth.
Carol Black-Lemon is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work explores identity, memory, and the emotional landscapes that shape our lives. Drawing inspiration from nature, culture, and spirit, her paintings—ranging from abstract to expressive storytelling—invite viewers into a world of color, movement, and reflection. Carol balances bold imagery with quiet depth, encouraging personal connection and contemplation.
A native of New Jersey now based in Florence, South Carolina, Carol has exhibited her work in galleries and community spaces across both states. She is also a curator, having led meaningful exhibitions such as Objet Trouvé, The Power of Four, and Sharing Our Stories— a Black History Month project that invited intergenerational storytelling through collage and
Poetry.
