Trouble's Turn to Lose
Private Investigator Hadley Cooper has a knack for finding trouble—and this time, it’s wearing pearls.
Life on Sullivan’s Island has finally settled into something close to perfect—morning bike rides on the beach, cases that don’t make headlines, and a romance with SLED agent Cash Reynolds that’s finally on solid ground. They have one ironclad rule: never work the same case.
But when a wealthy Charleston socialite turns up dead and Cash charges her housekeeper with murder, that agreement is put to the test. Carolyn Talbot—matriarch of one of the Lowcountry’s most colorful families—begs Hadley to help the young single mother behind bars, and soft-hearted Hadley can’t say no.
Soon she’s knee-deep in suspects, from an ambitious country singer and his overbearing stage mamma to socialites with secrets worth killing for. Hadley must navigate Southern family dynamics, a relationship in jeopardy, and a past that won’t stay buried to uncover the truth in a case that will transform her understanding of both justice and family forever.
