What initially drew you to your field, and how has that passion evolved over time?

My primary reason for becoming a public librarian is due to my love of assisting individuals in finding information pertaining to their life circumstances, goals, or interests that they may find difficult to locate on their own.

As a professional, I believe that it’s not just a librarian’s duty to assist people, it’s their responsibility. I also believe in assisting people not just in a library setting, but in any place where there is a need for useful information to be distributed.

During the years I’ve been in my field of work, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work with various people in my community and surrounding areas who’ve express gratitude for Public Libraries as well as their Librarians and Para-librarians.

What recent accomplishment at work has you feeling most energized?

The biggest and most rewarding accomplishment I’ve achieved as a public librarian is working closely with special need adults. Many of them just want to visit the library and interact with staff associates while being engaged with various crafts that allow them to be productive. I aim to accomplish this task on a monthly basis.

What do you wish people knew about working in a library?

I wish people knew that there’s no such thing as shushing someone or being totally quiet at the library. Although these essential habits are great, there are major challenges in any library.
