TEEN ILLUSTRATION BOOT CAMP
Our Teen summer activities kick off on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Johnsonville Public Library when local art teacher, Mr. Joshua Adams hosts our first annual Teen Illustration Boot Camp. Mr. Adams will instruct teens, rising in grades 9—12th, the best techniques and methods to use in this diverse and exciting art form. All art materials will be initially provided free of charge.

The workshop series will be on Mondays and Thursdays from 2—4 p.m. on June 16, 19, and 30th as well as July 3, 14, and 17th. Registration for this series is required, and consecutive attendance is encouraged. Teens and their parents are asked to stop by the library to register for this program. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Johnsonville Public Library.

TURKEY AND DUCK CALL WORKSHOP
John Tanner will host a Father/Son Turkey & Duck Call workshop at the Johnsonville Public Library on Thursday, June 26th. Mr. Tanner will demonstrate how turkey and duck calls are made, and the process he goes through to create his own. He will also offer suggestions on best practices to get the most out of these unique instruments. For our novice hunters, Tanner will provide a mock excursion that will allow these small hunters to put Tanner’s teachings into practice.

The program will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Johnsonville Public Library. This program is free and no registration is required. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Johnsonville Public Library.

TEEN TIME SUMMER READING
The Johnsonville Public Library will host the premiere Teen Time Summer Reading Program, “Spark a Reaction,” on Wednesday, June 18 at 3:00 p.m.. This program is open to those going into 6th – 12th grade. Registration is required.

The kick off for this series will be a teen movie based on Suzanne Collin’s Catching Fire from the Hunger Games series. This event is free and will last about 2.5 hours. There will be door prizes of movie memorabilia as well as refreshments! Those under the age of 13 will need a parental permission form signed prior to the event.

Our other dates for this series are: June 25: “Mad Science: The Science of Magic Workshop” ; July 2: Teen movie based on Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card; July 9th: “Health Rocks” with the local 4-H club; and July 16th : “Cool Cuffs: Woven bracelets.”

Participants will be invited to our finale on July 23th . This will be a special “Kinect Pizza Party” in which there will be good food, great prizes, and lots of fun.

All programs are on Wednesday afternoons at 3:00 p.m.

FAMILY STORYTIME
The Johnsonville Public Library will host a Family Storytime on Wednesday, June 18 at 11:30 a.m. This program is open to children ages 2-5 years and their parents, caretakers, and siblings.

This program kicks off the Summer Reading Program for preschoolers! Participants will practice rhymes, share stories, participate in movement activities, play games, and make a craft. The program is free and lasts about 45 minutes.

Other dates for this series are: Wednesday, June 25th , July 2nd , July 9th , and July 16th. All programs are on Wednesday mornings at 11:30 a.m.
