The Florence County Library System kicks off the Dewey D. Fox Children’s Fall Festival on Sept. 20, 2014 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Doctors Bruce and Lee Foundation Library in Florence. The Teen Services Department of the Florence County Library System and Kaplan Testing Center are offering a FREE practice SAT test on August 23, 2014. THE TEST IS OPEN TO ALL 9th THROUGH 12th GRADERS ONLY. You will learn the format of the test and take the test in a situation similar to a real test day. THIS IS A PRACTICE TEST, NOT A SKILLS COURSE. Check in will start at 8:45 am and the test will begin at 9:00am. It will last until approximately 1:30 pm on that Saturday. The test is around four and a half hours long and will be given in the main meeting room of the Florence County Library. REGISTRATION IS OPEN August 4-20, 2014. Summer Reading is over, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Travel by train across Asia! Battle for gold in the Wild West! Work together to make the best fireworks display! Stomp through a city as a giant monster! Board games let you do all that and more. Children and teens ages 8-17 are invited to join us at the Dr. John M. Thomason Public Library in Olanta for evenings of fun and good food. These free sessions will last about 90 minutes. Please call 843-396-4287 or visit the library for more information. Dinner will be provided by the Friends of the Olanta Public Library.
