The Florence County Library System is teaming up with Ronald McDonald on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 to celebrate reading.

Ronald McDonald does an excellent program promoting the importance of reading and using the public library. He uses magic and comedy to make the program very interactive.

The Ronald McDonald program will be held in the Joseph T. Stukes Meeting Room at the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation Library at 3:30 on April 23, 2014 for ages 3-11. During this program, the Florence County Library System will also present the Read to Ride winners with their bikes. This program is sponsored by McDonald’s. Read the rest of this entry »

The Florence County Library will host our next Teen Chat and View on April 27, 2014. Discuss the book The Hobbit and watch the second movie of the series as Bilbo Baggins continues his quest with the dwarves to reclaim Erebor. The program takes place in the main meeting room from 2:30-5:30 and is free and open to all 6th through 12th graders. Refreshments will be provided.

The Dr. John M. Thomason Public Library will present Tie-Dye Your Summer! on Thursday, May 1 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Make your summer textiles vibrant and full of color. Learn sophisticated tie-dye techniques for t-shirts, scarves, pillowcases, and more. All ages are welcome to attend.

The Florence County Library Board of Trustees has named Philip Alan Smith as the new director of the Florence County Library System. He succeeds library director Ray McBride who retired last year after six years of service. Smith started in his new position on March 10, 2014. Read the rest of this entry »
